From Struggle to Transformation through Savings 💪💰
Delita’s journey shows that change begins with small steps—saving, learning, and having the courage to try new things.
Through the POWER (Promotion of Women through Economic Empowerment and Rights) project, she transformed from a housewife with limited resources into an independent entrepreneur inspiring other woman in Covalima.
Before joining, Delita’s family relied on small-scale farming with no stable income or savings. In 2023, she joined training on financial management and gender equality, and with her peers formed the Builaun Babutuk Savings Group. With regular savings, she started a small vegetable business at the local market.
Today, she supports her family, pays for her children’s education, and saves for the future. “Now I know how to manage money and live in harmony,” she said proudly.
The POWER Project, funded by the European Union, and implemented by World Vision Timor-Leste, Fokupers, and FEEO, empowers women in Covalima and Oecusse to pursue entrepreneurship, build livelihoods, and participate in decisions that affect their lives.
