Dili, 27 August 2026 | FOKUPERS, together with Oxfam partner organizations in Timor-Leste, was pleased to receive a visit from the CEO of Oxfam Australia, Mrs. Jennifer Tierney.
The meeting was an important opportunity to strengthen partnerships and strategic dialogue between Oxfam Australia and its partners, and to share perspectives on the opportunities, priorities and challenges facing local civil society organizations in Timor-Leste.
The discussions also provided space to talk about the importance of locally led development, which values the leadership, experience, knowledge and capacity of local organizations to define priorities, lead processes and promote sustainable change in communities.
Oxfam will continue to strengthen partnerships with civil society organizations in Timor-Leste, to jointly promote economic empowerment, human rights, gender equality and community resilience to the impacts of climate change.
Together we can strengthen local capacity and leadership, foster economic opportunities for women and vulnerable groups, and ensure that the voices and rights of communities, especially women, youth and people with disabilities, are considered in development and decision-making processes.
