President of the Australian Senate and members of the Australian Parliament Visit Fokupers

Dili, 20 April 2026

Fokupers (Women Communication Forum Timor-Leste) received a courtesy visit from the President of the Australian Senate and members of the Australian Parliament, accompanied by DFAT, to observe directly the work that Fokupers has been doing in the area of ​​prevention and response to Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Timor-Leste.

During the visit, Fokupers team presented the institutional mission, strategic program, and integrated services provided to women and child  who experience violence, including psychosocial support, to address conditions, protection, and economic empowerment.

The Australian delegation also visited service facilities, including two safe houses in Dili to see firsthand the service experience provided.

This visit reflects the strong partnership between Timor-Leste and Australia through DFAT and contributes to joint efforts to enhance the protection of women’s rights and reduce gender-based violence.

Fokupers remains committed to working with national and international partners to promote a safe, inclusive, and violence.
